Utility, city, safety and security workers and others were recently
honored by Governor Culver for their roles in leading recovery efforts
following the February winter storm in Iowa. Invited guests and their
families from around the state enjoyed a "Fun In The Sun" day June 23 at
Terrace Hill, hosted by Governor Culver and Lieutenant Governor Patti
Judge. A number of children’s games and activities were provided, along
with musical entertainment and free food and drink for all.
Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge addressed the representatives
on hand and thanked them for their individual and team efforts in the
face of difficult circumstances. "It was a true public-private
partnership," said the Governor in acknowledging the joining together of
different utility entities to restore the state’s damaged
infrastructure.
IAMU was a co-sponsor of the event. IAMU staff was represented by
Program Manager Dave Hraha, Job Training & Safety Coordinator Mary Ann
Kinkade, Electric Services Coordinator Eric Stoll, Communication Manager
John Burnett and Member Services Assistant Kathy Hoffman.
