Participation in Rulemaking Processes

IAMU plays an active role in rulemaking proceedings of Iowa Utilities Board, Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Department of Revenue, and other agencies on issues affecting electric, gas, water, wastewater, telecommunications, and storm water utility issues.

Two IAMU staff members served on a panel established by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of Pipeline Safety to develop national standards for operator qualifications (OQ). IAMU's model OQ program was adopted in that process as a national model for small systems. Another staff member has been appointed to serve on an IEEE working group developing new standards for distribution system reliability.
